Let’s face it, Summer in Queensland is hot, so hot in fact we tend not to spend our weekends working in the heat, especially the outdoor areas, instead we use the Winter months to update and change our home.

Outdoor Living Buying Guide

In previous years, we’ve spent all of Winter working away in the garden to provide “outdoor garden rooms” for us to enjoy, now though, we’re looking at changing up some areas closer to home. We’ve spent time researching all sorts of different options to best close in our deck space from the Summer storms and piercing sun, and I’d love to share what we’ve found for our outdoor areas.

This is the space we have looking to transform into a more functional space for the heat and storms of summer. For our home, we wanted blinds that we could easily have up or down. We love the aspect of our deck, but the sun can be both blinding and terribly hot! On our search, we came across the Victory Outdoor Living Buying Guide, which helped us narrow down the best options for us.

Cassette Sunscreens

These stunning Cassette Sunscreens would be perfect on our back deck!! What a gorgeous transformation they would make to our space. There are many reasons why this style of blind will work for our Queensland deck, the biggest tick for me is the sunscreen fabric to keep the damaging sun off my precious cushions (which I usually have to put away every time I use them!).

Motorisation

The screening also works well for us, as our neighbours front of house is right where our deck is. This way we can privately entertain on our deck. When considering this option though, I needed to know that the everyday use would be easy, and with the option of side channels or a wire guide, I don’t need to be concerned about the blinds flapping away when I’m putting them up or down and even better still……. there are motorised options so we can do it all at the flick of a switch!

Victory Curtains and Blinds have a large range of quality fabrics to choose from to ensure that we find the right look for our home. With a 5-year warranty, we can be confident these blinds will stand the test of time, just like our 110-year-old Queenslander. This has been a great find for us, a mix of quality and fashion that will help elevate our outdoor space into a room we can use all year round.

Do you have an outdoor space you’d like to use all year round? Is Sun destroying your cushions too?
